Diversity Spotlight 011917

Hey there beautiful bookworms, welcome to my first ever post for the Diversity Spotlight Thursday meme! As I continue my goal to read and blog more about diverse books, I thought that this meme was perfect for it. That said, here’s my list!

Read and enjoyed: The Sun Is Also A Star by Nicola Yoon

The Sun Is Also A Star by Nicola YoonI think I’ve read and finished this in about three days during the last weeks of December, when I was also supposed to be super busy with family and friends since I visited Manila for Christmas and New Year’s. I just couldn’t put it down! The style the book was written in was refreshing and perfect, with chapters dedicated not only to the two protagonists, Natasha and Daniel, but also the people they meet along the way and the pieces of history interwoven with their identities. It’s a really amazing book and one that I would recommend to absolutely anyone who would listen, lol!

I have written a guest review of this book and will link it up as soon as it’s been posted!

TBR: Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the UniverseI bought this book around late December last year and haven’t taken any bookstagram photos of it, alas! Anyway, I’m super excited about this one because I’ve heard really good things about it, plus the cover is just gorgeous. I love the typography and the illustrations surrounding it, makes for an interesting, eye-catching design!

And who wouldn’t want to read about angry teen Ari meeting know-it-all Dante? This is definitely going to be good.

To-Be-Released: Queens of Geek by Jen Wilde

Queens of GeekThis book is SO AMAZINGLY INTERESTING OK. Conventions! A Youtube star as one of the protags! Pop culture references! LGBTQIAP+ main character who’s also a PoC! Protagonist with anxiety! Fandom! IT SPEAKS TO ME. I really, really am looking forward to the release of this book and I hope it lives up to my expectations. Reviewers are singing praises for this book on Goodreads so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I’ll love it as much as them. So hyped up for Queens of Geek!

  1. A diverse book you’ve read and enjoyed
  2. A diverse book on your TBR
  3. A diverse book that hasn’t been released yet

Have you read any of the books on my list? What did you think of them? Let me know in the comments below!
