My Bookstagram Adventure

Hellooo, beautiful bookworms! If it isn’t your first time on my blog you might remember me making a post about my foray into the bookstagram world. It’s been a couple of months since then, and my bookstagram aesthetic has changed quite a bit! As I said in the last bookstagram post, I wanted to stick to a black, red, and white theme. But look at a couple of my photos since then:

Wow, that is… not black, red, and white at all.

I know, right? But I realized as I was building up my bookstagram that I didn’t really fancy dark colors all the time. Instead, I really wanted to take more photos of the outdoors because, 1.) it forced me to go outside LOL, and 2.) the parks in Singapore are just beautiful. I also didn’t need to add in so many fancy props and stuff; just the scenery is more than enough to make an impressive photo.

I haven’t joined the challenges yet because I feel that I don’t have enough books in Singapore (my book collection’s mostly in Manila) but I did manage to do some tags. Here are a couple of my favorite tags that I’ve done:

All in all, I’ve been enjoying myself! The community is nice and welcoming and I’ve seen so many creative and wonderful accounts that have become my inspiration.

Here are some beautiful bookstagram accounts:

  • fellow_bookworms: I adore their outdoor shots! Also the lighting in their photos are always so perfect. I especially love the ones with sunrays spilling over the horizon, they’re so magical.
  • theauslibrary: I love the earth-toned photos! They also have some impressive book arrangements and some cool lighting in their photos.
  • bookheroin: I just love the simplicity and cohesiveness of their feed. The photos also have that natural, earthy look that I’ve been growing to love so much.
  • loveofbooks: Another bookstagram with outdoor shots, and I love how their feed shows the changing of seasons! Since it’s winter right now, their photos currently feature beautiful shots of books and white, white snow. It’s amazing!
  • booknookangel: Can you tell that I really love outdoor shots? This is another lovely account with pretty and creative outdoor shots worth visiting.
  • acourtofreaders: I really, really love the play of shadows and light on their photos. It’s super awesome and make for really interesting shots!
  • allisbooks: Another very pretty, earth-toned feed. I love the framing and arrangement of their books and props!
  • adragonslair: There’s a lot of outdoor shots, but they also feature themselves in some the photos, making for some very unique and beautiful shots!
  • wistfulandwandering: I am really drawn to earthy filters, I think LOL. They also feature themselves in the photos and all of their shots are pretty cool!
  • b00kswithmaps: More outdoor-themed bookstagrams, yay! I really love their arrangements. Those books on the railroad, man!

There are SO many more amazing bookstagrams out there, I’m a bit intimidated by all the talent tbh lol! These are just a few of the ones I love. I’m sure I’ve missed a lot and will be linking to more accounts in a future post, so be on the lookout for that!

But wait, there’s more!

Probably my proudest achievement regarding my bookstagram photos is getting retweeted by Rick Riordan LOL.

Rick Riordan Retweeted Me
Screenshot for posterity!!

When I saw that retweet I was screaming inside! I texted several of my friends immediately just because I was really happy about it. Senpai (sensei??) noticed me! A friend joked that now I can write “Retweeted by a NYT Bestselling Author” in my resume. Definitely one of the better things that happened to me this year. Thanks, Good Guy Rick!

YES I WAS LIKE “????” when my dumb tweet was somehow getting so many likes and I checked and saw “Rick Riordan retweeted you” and I probably yelled at everyone who would listen to me, my poor yet understanding friends. And aaah thank you so much that means a lot! <3

You definitely should check out those accounts! They're my aesthetic 100% (And I wish it snowed over here in SE Asia so I too could take photos of books and pretty snow, but alas all we get are scorching heat and rain, sometimes in the span of a day.)

Huh that’s weird! I checked on my iphone and it seems to be showing up just fine, so I’m not sure what the issue is…
