Hiiii welcome to my WAYRW post! I’m currently reading an eARc of The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco. It feels very Memoirs of a Geisha with a heaping dose of magic and necromancy! It’s admittedly a bit too slow at the moment but I’m determined to read this up to 50% at least before deciding whether or not to DNF it.
Here’s a quote from 34% of the eARC:
“Yes, Tea,” she said calmly. “I could have punished you and turned you out with nothing but the clothes on your back and your tail between your legs. You have caused more chaos among the asha-ka than has been seen in my lifetime, and that is a very long lifetime indeed. But if there is one thing I will forgive for the mess you have made, no matter how indirectly your responsibility in it lies, is that you are the strongest asha I have seen in recent times, and I will not have you loose on the population outside these walls, where you are likely to wreak even more havoc. You are strong in the Dark; I think that is punishment enough, as you will learn in your own time.”
Would I want to live in the world of The Bone Witch? Honestly, I wouldn’t want to. Not that it isn’t a well-thought out world; it’s actually very detailed, down to customs and industries of every town and city that our main character visits. I just don’t feel that I would enjoy myself in such a world, even if I get to add magic to my dresses and hairclips to make myself look prettier! Plus there’s a war brewing and it involves terrifying magicians and monsters, and I really don’t want to be there when it happens LOL.
What’s What Are You Reading Wednesdays?
WAYRW is hosted by It’s A Reading Thing Blog, where you grab the book you’re currently reading and answer 3 questions:
- What’s the name of your current read?
- Go to page 34 in your book or 34% in your eBook and share a couple of sentences.
- Would you like to live in the world that exists within your book? Why or why not?
